Fresh ‘n Press first opened its dry cleaning business in London in 1973. You can find our shop in South London at 405 Wharncliffe Road, between Emery and Devonshire.
As a family-owned operation in our second generation, we take great pride in offering exceptional personal service, attention to detail, competitive pricing and the fact that all work is done on the premises.
We’re especially proud of our environmentally-friendly business practices.
Going “Clean & Green”
In the 1990s, growing concerns about the environment and the health of our staff led us to make radical changes to our operation. In 1998 we became the first cleaners in London to adopt “wet cleaning” – a process that uses no harmful chemicals, emits no air pollution, and causes no water or soil contamination.
Not only is wet cleaning good for the environment – it’s good for your clothes! They come back odor-free, with none of that chemical “dry cleaner” smell, and our gentle process helps fabrics to last longer, too. In fact, a number of clothing stores recommend us because they know their customers’ expensive suits and outfits will receive the special attention and care they deserve!
Since then, we have looked for and implemented new initiatives to make our service “Clean & Green”. Our biodegradable garment bags contain an additive that lets natural soil processes start breaking down the plastic within just a few weeks of entering the landfill. We also encourage you to return your garment hangers to our shop, where they can be reused until they need to go for recycling.
New technology for wet cleaners
As well as using “clean & green” processes, Fresh ‘n Press has developed a line of innovative garment finishing equipment designed especially for wet cleaning operations. Our Pressers Edge equipment simplifies tensioning and hand-finishing steps to make wet cleaning service efficient and cost-effective.
